EA, Activision Blizzard Will Account for 75 Percent of Q3 Games
Posted by Brian Allen 1 day ago.

A report published by Screen Digest suggests a whopping 75 percent of all the video games coming out in the third quarter of 2008 will come from two companies.
We'll give you two guesses: Electronic Arts and Activision Blizzard. EA's large no. of sports games gives them 21 releases for the July-September period, with Activision Blizzard not far behind with 19. If you think it's a large number now, wait until the proposed merger between EA and Take-Two goes through.
Also interesting to note is that the Nintendo Wii has the largest library of any game console and Screen Digest says that gap is continuing to widen. We don't know if any studies have been done as to how many of those games are actually good.

Operation: Fallen Star, the third expansion for the multiplayer-only PlayStation 3 shooter Warhawk, will be available for download August 28.
The expansion will retail for $7.99 in the PlayStation Store and will add a brand new map, Tau Crater, that comes packed with 10 different configurations. The big addition, however, is the new Icarus Mk. 1 Rocket Pack, which will bring personal jet packs to the battlefield. Produced by spawning machines on the map, the new rocket packs will function like any other Warhawk vehicle and will allow players to board other vehicles while wearing a rocket pack. New configurations for old maps are also included in the update to highlight the new tool.
In addition to Fallen Star, Sony will also release a bundle of all three Warhawk expansions for $15.99, and developer Incognito will release a free patch the day before the new expansion becomes available. Dedicate Warhawk fans can get all the nitty-gritty details from Warhawk Game Director Dylan Jobe on PlayStation.blog.
Driving Rampage Inspired by Video Games
Posted by Brian Allen 5 days, 15 hours, 44 minutes ago.

TV station KSL-5 said a 27-year-old man led police on a chase in excess of 100 mph and told the police such behavior had always worked in video games.
The guy tore down I-15 on a bullet bike, moving way faster than police vehicles were able to. Daniel Savino's Need for Speed-inspired run came to an abrupt end when he lost control of the bike and ended up under a Ford Expedition. The bike caught fire, but Savino apparently only sustained a bad case of road rash.
Police say he's lucky to be alive, as he was wearing neither a helmet or a shirt. No shirt? Was one of the racing games that inspired him Big Mutha Truckers?
EA And Take-Two May Get Together After All
Posted by Brian Allen 5 days, 15 hours, 59 minutes ago.

After blowing lots and lots of press-release smoke over the past few months, Electronic Arts and Take-Two may have resolved their differences in private talks.
Financial website The Street said The House That Madden Built looks poised to marry up with the Grand Theft Auto Factory. All this despite Take-Two accusing EA of lowballing them with a $2 billion offer and EA just days ago saying the deal no longer made economic sense.
This merger would set up a showdown of epic proportions with the newly formed Activision Blizzard conglomerate. The chess match is already well underway as EA is rumored to be publishing Brutal Legend. Acti-Blizz reportedly gave up on that game recently opting for more franchise-friendly fare like Spyro and Crash Bandicoot.

Sonic Unleashed is the latest installment in the long-running Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. It is currently being developed for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and the Wii.
Plot-wise, Sonic Unleashed focuses on the blue blur's quest to undo Dr. Eggman/Robotnik's evil work and “put the pieces of the world back together” using the power of the Chaos emeralds.
Gameplay will change depending on whether gamers are playing during the day or at night. The former will be focused on the usual high-speed chases and ring-collecting, and the latter on werewolf-centric combat.
Sonic Unleashed is scheduled to launch in November, but that shouldn't stop you from admiring the newly-uploaded batch of high resolution screenshots now residing in the image gallery located above this post.
