EA, Activision Blizzard Will Account for 75 Percent of Q3 Games

Home : News : News Story

There are no monopolies in gaming, move along there's nothing to see here.

A report published by Screen Digest suggests a whopping 75 percent of all the video games coming out in the third quarter of 2008 will come from two companies.

We'll give you two guesses: Electronic Arts and Activision Blizzard. EA's large no. of sports games gives them 21 releases for the July-September period, with Activision Blizzard not far behind with 19. If you think it's a large number now, wait until the proposed merger between EA and Take-Two goes through.

Also interesting to note is that the Nintendo Wii has the largest library of any game console and Screen Digest says that gap is continuing to widen. We don't know if any studies have been done as to how many of those games are actually good.
