Resistance: Fall of Man

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of this game I have saved for last, which is online multiplayer. Quite honestly, it is an experience by which all other similar PS3 titles will be judged for some time to come. Imagine forty-player online carnage without the slightest hiccup. In my hands on time, it absolutely conveyed the feeling of a virtual war, with twenty-on-twenty action that has to be experienced to be believed.

At least you have comrades by your side while marching through hell.

Resistance: Fall of Man won’t garner any game of the year awards simply because the formula is all too familiar to shooter fans. The Xbox 360's Gears of War is much more worthy of that title. What it will garner though is appreciation from those who purchased Sony’s next gen console…not to heartlessly gouge those who couldn’t get one on launch day, but to enjoy the first of what is likely to be a memorable catalog of next generation games over the coming years.

Highs
Excellent variety in weaponry; solid single player campaign; stunning online multiplayer experience.

Lows
Graphics solid, but not overly impressive; where is the online co-op?

Final Verdict
The single player campaign along with the insane online multiplayer modes provides a rollercoaster ride you won’t soon forget. Sony is serving notice that the PS3 has the capabilities to deliver on all those promises made by their execs over the last couple of years. In a launch that contains mostly unrefined rocks, Resistance: Fall of Man shines as a polished gem.
