Unreal Tournament 3

The biggest change, which is really only a change for the console community, is the ability to make mods on your PC (and soon Mac) and move them over to the PS3. Unfortunately, they can’t be made on the PS3 alone even though there is undoubtedly space on the Blu-ray disc and keyboard-mouse functionality obviously exists. On top of that, even someone who has a home network and the ability to stream music, movies and pictures cannot simply send the mods to the PS3; they must be manually moved using a storage device, ie. USB thumbdrive or memory stick.

Some sights are a wonder to see. Just don't gasp too long or you'll be tele-fragged to hell.

On the bright side, joining a game with user-generated mods will give players the option to automatically download the mod to play. However, at the moment user-generated mods aren’t open to the public. Epic Games hasn’t implemented the system to create mods just yet, but it will be up “soon.”

While the 360 has dominated the FPS genre with titles like Bioshock and Halo 3, the PS3 gets a sturdy, well built and powerful timed exclusive in Unreal Tournament 3. It lacks a few things that would really have set it apart from most other games, like the first cross-platform game on the PS3 and a complete lack of a single player campaign like Warhawk. Even with a shoddy story thrown into the mix, there is no doubt that Epic has delivered the next big multiplayer game for the console and will achieve nothing but adoring fans, and modders, soon enough.

Highs
Exquisite gameplay, keyboard-mouse use, new benchmark for PS3 FPS's.

Lows
Laughable single-player campaign, awful menu system, no ready mod-creating system.

Final Verdict
A great title that with a little more time cooking, could have really been something special.
